Based on the performances of the goal shy Canary footballers this season, I am a little surprised to see that Yanic Wildschut hasn’t claimed a regular shirt this season and now looks to be off to league rivals Cardiff City on loan for the rest of the season.
Looking at his career to date, he has struggled to hold onto a shirt at any club, arguably VVV Venlo and Wigan being the exceptions, which could be a pattern? For me there have been games this season when Yanic should have started and others where he could have made an impact in a dull game by coming off the bench.
With our team tactics relying on slow, side-pass build up from the back, City have only now started to show better signs by not losing in the last four games and by coincidence, having Alex Pritchard back in the line-up after a long and painful (for us fans) absence. With the exception of Josh Murphy, Alex and Yanic are the only two players capable of running at defenders to help create opportunities to score.
Without having these two lads and with what is the lowest number of attacking options in the squad for what seems like ever, I wonder how the second half of the season will pan out for the lads?
