Having won four player of the month awards, picking out the creativity and finishing power of James Maddison would be a no brainer.
However the most warming experience as a City fan for me so far this season is seeing a youth player come through the ranks from apparently nowhere to then instantly look the finished product after his first outing, when did that last happen? Craig Bellamy?
I have questioned the U23 conveyor belt for sometime especially whilst watching and feeling that other clubs appeared more comfortable blooding new talent.
For me Jamal Lewis has been a sensation.
As an ex athletics sprinter, he has pace, he already has strength and is capable of shielding the ball in tight leftback spots and then possessing the vision to lay off the ball without being pressured or looking stressed.
As was evident in the Chelsea replay, popping up to head the ball into the back of the onion bag for the equaliser, Jamal can take responsibility and use his own initiative especially as the touch line had not passed on the instruction.
This was again evident when we tried to chase the game last weekend against the Blades. The young Canary got further forward, made runs towards the opposition box and made himself available to connect with our attacks down the left.
I have also been really impressed with his performances behind the mic, articulate, warm and above all positive. This was demonstrated when asked about his hopes for the rest of the season.
Happy Birthday Jamal, you have the potential to enjoy a great footballing career with Northern Ireland, Norwich and beyond!
