Brentford go into this weekend’s game against Norwich City in confident mood following a well-earned victory at Reading last Saturday, and a sequence of five wins in the last six matches.
I doubt Canaries supporters will need many clues to work out when Brentford’s pre-Christmas run started – the 2-1 victory at Carrow Road over the festive period was a great early present for those of us who made the Friday night journey to Norfolk – and if it hadn’t have been for Wolverhampton Wanderers proving the opposition on January 2nd, I have a feeling the winning run would have been even more impressive.
Nobody will be taking the match lightly however, we are well aware that, on your day, City are a force to be reckoned with, but it’ll be interesting to see how your recent sales have affected your team. We are well aware that Alex Pritchard was the stand-out player for you... Without his threat from deep, my hunch is you are less potent coming forward. Either way, I expect our lads are itching to continue where they left off and to underline their play-off credentials.
With the transfer window still wide open Bees fans are well aware of the threat posed from Premiership clubs sniffing around our prized assets – January is an edgy month traditionally for the Brentford hardcore – but assuming we remain untouched by the circling vultures, we should be able to complete the double over you guys I think. Again, not taking anything for granted, but there is a palpable sense of momentum building right now and an educated guess suggests that should continue.
Whatever the result, and whatever my pre-match prediction, one thing is a certainty – Norwich City fans will once again be made to feel welcome in and around the town before and after the game. Come down and mix with our fans in any of the local pubs and enjoy Griffin Park for its unique vibe while we are still lucky enough to call it home.
